Ken Bailey – Soil, Plant, Animal & Human Nutrition Specialist

Join us for an in-depth session with Ken Bailey – Soil, Plant, Animal & Human Nutrition Specialist, as he explores the powerful connections between soil biology, plant productivity, animal health, and human wellbeing.

With over 30 years of experience and specialist training in composting, soil testing, and nutrition, Ken will share practical insights into how farmers can achieve both high yields and high quality by focusing on nutrition at every level of the system. His expertise spans advanced tools such as the Haney Soil Test and Plant Sap Analysis, providing real-time, science-based strategies for improving soil fertility, plant health, and overall productivity.

This session will cover the interconnected themes of Microbial Nutrition, Plant Nutrition, Animal Nutrition, and Human Nutrition—a vital conversation for Western Australia, where inherently poor soils demand innovative, interventionist approaches to farming.

Whether you are working in conventional, organic, or regenerative agriculture, this event offers valuable knowledge and practical strategies to help you build healthier soils, produce higher quality food, and ultimately contribute to healthier communities.

Ken Bailey graduated with Honours from Marcus Oldham Agricultural College in 1974 and has since dedicated more than 30 years of his agricultural career to understanding how soil biology influences plant productivity, animal health, and ultimately human wellbeing.

He has undertaken specialist training in compost manufacture with the renowned Austrian Lubke family, leaders in biological composting systems. More recently, Ken completed training as a Root Cause Protocol Health and Wellness Consultant, which further strengthened his insights into the deep connections between soil microbial nutrition, plant nutrition, animal nutrition, and human nutrition.

Ken is well-versed in advanced soil and plant diagnostic tools, including the Haney Soil Test, one of the most accurate measures of soil fertility, and Plant Sap Analysis, which provides real-time insights into photosynthetic efficiency, plant productivity, and plant health. His work demonstrates that it is possible to achieve both high production and high quality in agriculture when nutrition is properly understood and managed.

The upcoming session will explore the interconnected themes of Microbial Nutrition, Plant Nutrition, Animal Nutrition, and Human Nutrition. These subjects are particularly relevant in Western Australia, where inherently poor soils demand a more interventionist approach to achieve sustainable productivity and quality outcomes.

Regardless of farming system, the day will provide practical knowledge and scientific insights into why nutrition at every level matters—and how improving soil biology can ultimately benefit plants, animals, and people.
